Does anyone have a good contact at Corgi who can deal with customer complaints?
Their customer support department do not deal with complaints?
Looking for someone who can sort the wheat from the chaff!

paulc,
Warehouse fire story is a non starter. This is strenuously denied by corgi – no retailers had their allocation cut, which seems to support their stance.
I think some people with a vested interest in this Mossie going up in price, have circulated the rumour about only 500 having survived this ficticious fire. The simple truth of the matter is that it is a little beauty and has been well supported by the collectors – after all, it was only the second Mosquito produced and it has very attractive ‘invasion stripes’
This model is limited to only 5900 worldwide – if you consider how many people with an interest in Aviation – or even the numbers at RIAT each year, say 300,000 – I think it was just a popular one.
In any case, I’ve got my two and I’m keepin’ em!
(must be worth £800 now though)

The rarest Mosquito is the RAAF one produced a while ago – very few survived a warehouse fire hence they are rarer than rocking horse poo 😉

Approx £100 – £125 for Grim Reaper
” £150+ for BOAC (Collector Club) Mossie.
Hope this helps, but I would hold on to them if I were you!

Mmm, I think IMHO its a little dismissive to say they are toys. A huge amount of effort goes in to these models. I grant you that they are not absolutely accurate. The lack of dihedral on the big Spitfire was very obvious and there is no grasp of how to set out the ‘star and bar’ markings on the Mustangs but these are really just quibbles and will probably be ironed out eventually. There was a very nice man from Corgi who posted here last year – they do listen to positive and negative comments.

1:32 scale Big Beautiful Doll
I was thinking about a 1:32 Mustang at Christmas, but wasn’t keen on the colour schemes. This however will prove to be very tempting!!
Currently got the B-17,P-51 & P-47 set, XH558 and a Hunter in Black Arrows scheme.

I haven’t seen the 1:32 scale Mossie yet, but it is due out in the first half of this year – along with the 1:32 scale Big Beautiful Doll – the two I’m going to be after.
My only problem may be that I’m running out of space !
By: Mark V - 19th March 2004 at 09:09
Is that big Mosquito out yet?
Also I heard that the ‘flat’ wing problem on the 1/32 Spitfires will be corrected when they re-tool for subsequent versions.

While I’d love to be able to produce decent examples of built plastic kits, I am simply not good enough at it to get the sort of results that I’d like, and I no longer have the time either! Thats one of the reasons that I do collect a few of the Corgi models.
So far I have all of the Mosquitos (not that strange for those who know me!) and a couple of others that I just like.

I have the P51D ‘Old Crow’ and a Spitfire V (?) from one of the SAR squadrons (AQC Sqn markings, airframe P8131).
Anyone know of a good source for these models in the States? I want to get a Hurricane and maybe a Lanc.
By: Dez - 18th March 2004 at 23:55
I build kits as well however don’t get time to sit and do them much. The kits are displayed in with the Corgi’s (not the dogs! :p )
Shorty 01 i agree with you that it is more satisfying to build your own i buy them to complement my kits, at least the Corgi’s will be worth some money in the future!!
Anyway im off to the AA forum now im sure they could build a Sea Vixen! oh and a Valient for my V Bombers
Laters…
