Corgi warbirds for £3 in Asda

Being a manager at the above store, i was walking past a load of half price toys and noticed a whole load of £3 1:72 corgi warbirds on the end where all the half price toys were!!

After a brief chat with my guv’nor (who wasn’t that interested in the difference between a hurri and a spit) i bought a hurri, me 109 and zero and i got 10% discount.

Just thought i would let all you good people know.

As you know Corgi went belly-up and sold their models to Home Bargains for 50p each.

Where did you get that idea from??

The diecast business of Corgi International was purchased earlier this year by Hornby, and is still in business, now trading as Corgi Classics.

What I think you will find is that the new owners have rationalised the ranges and end of range/end of line models were remaindered to the trade at bargain prices to clear them.

This has been normal practice for years, and Corgi in particular have had a constant stream of clearance items which end up being sold at toyfairs for about a quarter of their original price. I bought several of the early 144th scale ‘Aviation Archive’ models a few years ago from these sources.

They seem to be Series 2, judging from an earlier enquiry to my local store.

I shall be looking out for these models; I still need the Lancaster and Fortress to complete my collection!

DazDaMan, Corgi were purchased by Hornby earlier this year:

Are ASDA still selling these models and are they Series Two or Series Three?

Home Bargains were selling off Corgi’s stock of Series Two for £2.99 a few months ago and I secured almost the entire series. As you know Corgi went belly-up and sold their models to Home Bargains for 50p each.

Does anyone know which stores are selling these models

Regards
