Corgie's Canberra

Bought Corgie’s latest at the Midland Air Museum yesterday. A 1/72 scale B.2 with 11 inch wingspan and outstanding quality paint finish.

Model represents a 10 Sqn Canberra tricked out in Suez colours – white stripes were used because the sqn ran out of yellow paint! (Probably the nation’s supply had been used up by the Navy on their Seahawks.)

As you can see, it’s a worthwhile model and, as a baseline product, will allow Corgie to produce further examples. Next, I hear, will be a Martin B-57A, probably a representation of the all-over silver B-57A’s 66 Tactical Reconaissance Wing.

Couple of small niggles, but who’s counting?

Would be nice if Corgi did a TSR 2 one day!
This planet would be a different place today if it went into RAF service.

How about a Corgi of the flourescent orange B.2s9o used by the Luftwaffe as test-beds?

BTW any chance of a 1/32 or 1/48 of ‘Black six’???

Geoff.

Yes, have an orange German Canberra short-listed. By the way, they were not ‘flourescent’ oarnge, just plain ‘orange’.

As promised here’s my Frog kit of the Canberra. Again 1/72 scale. 99% finished. Needs varnishing. Quite a hard-to-find kit these days, but well recommended…

Very nice! Shouldn’t be too hard to find, as first issued by FROG, then NOVO and then Revell, possibly others.

Officially, they were weather-recon. Actually, they were electronic intelligence snooping that other Germany.

Is a B-57G in the works? The one with that moveable gun in the bombbay would be nice, me thinks.

It is a nice model, but somehow the etching of all the panels seems to be a bit too deep. Might just be me, but if you multiplied those 72 times, I’m sure you’d have some big gaps.

Sorry Albert.

Dunno about “fraction of the cost”!!!! Kit was £12, paints etc, brushes… Probably the thick end of £40 when its done. Fully agree about the entertainment though. Nowt better than a dark night in with a mug of hot tea and a nice kit!

Nice model – currently building the old Frog 1/72 Canberra.

That’s the way you wanna do it. A fraction of the cost, hours of entertainment, and far better detail.

Thanks Les. As Corgi’s Aviation Archive and researcher, you know this is one of mine and I thank you for your kind words. Several more Canberra and B-57 models to come!
