Looks like one of his props has been shot out already too by some quad Browning .303 fire! 😉

Hi all. I visited the RAF museum on Thursday for the first time. The Battle Of Britain Hall is an amazing place to visit. Obviosly its not the best place to take pictures due to the poor lighting but the aircraft are much more imposing in the dark. The whole place just has a feeling about it that a normal, sterile type display (Mile Stones Of Flight) cant give you.

Sorry if any one finds the picture or caption inapropriet. Just thought it was some thing a bit different.

Ben

John.

If he was that close I suspect the rear gunner would have never seen anything again.

An unusual idea for a photo and on certain levels it works.

It’s the Messerschmitt Bf 110G-2 that is currently at Hendon museum, the photo is a peculiar angle and represents what might be seen by a tail gunner during a night mission, the 110 being a nightfighter version.

The acompanying title of ‘Cork Screw…….Now!’ is the instruction that the tail gunner would have given the pilot having seen such a disturbing site (Cork Screw being and evasive manouvre done by the Lancasters to evade enemy aircraft).

Regards,

John.
