Cornish Liberation Front

i read on MSN news that some Cornish folk have been asking for support from the above mentioned group to drive out English Chefs.

My question is, do the people of Cornwall feel different from the rest of the Uk, do they want independence and why?

Most of the English are Celts too they just don’t know it. This stuff goes on in England too, particularly the south coast, they hate it as much as anybody else.

I part own a static caravan in Wales does that make me hated too or is it just because I’m from Birmingham?

The wife is Welsh though so maybe I’m partially redeemed.

Back to the Cornish fellows though, I gather their main gripe is having well heeled celebs like Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein setting up restaurants and holiday homes amongst them, forcing the property prices up, and therefore pricing the locals out of the market.

Having witnessed the same thing along the Argyll and Hebridean coasts and heartlands, they have my sympathy entirely. Last time I was in Ullapool t’was difficult to find a local accent. I daresay the Breton cousins are feeling the pinch too.. ?

Same happeing here in my village in Wales (Snowdonia). 2nd homes account for nearly 50% of the housing and minimum price for a 1 bedroom terraced house, is £125,000. As someone who has lived in this village all my life, it looks like i’ll be forced out due to the fact that I cannot afford to purchase my own house once I leave University, as outsiders come in, mostly from South East England, purchase a house, then they bog off for 10 months of the year. Its a hot topic here, and in most Welsh villages, and I know how my Celtic Cousins feel about this! Same is happening in the Lakes, so I feel sorry for them too! It really is a depressing situation.

Language is also a factor here, but I won’t go into that!

Don’t forget the Bretons who are also Celts and hate the French more than the English do…:D

My Great Great Grand Mother was a Breton, which answers a few questions 😀

The Cornish are Celts, like the Irish, Welsh and west coast Scots, so of course they hate the English.
