Cloud cuckoo land. What’s spent elsewhere is totally irrelevant and the government does not give simple repayment loans.
Given that the large airframes will almost certainly have to be scrapped, what I don’t understand is why Cornwall Aviation Heritage needs to pay for it.
There must be at a very rough guess 80 tons or so of scrap between the VC-10 and the 1-11. Surely the scrappers should be paying them?

Hi All,
Whether the move was imminent or mismanaged that has lead up to this sad state of affairs is another issue, recriminations could be tackled when the move was completed and the airframes have been saved.
It just seems to me that there was nobody anywhere willing to either step in and help out with the Funding / Time / Facilitating / Planning logistics of moving such a huge collection of airframes, along with an obvious highly detailed plan of action from start to finish that was not done it appears like I already stated recriminations after the move.
Keeping the collection in tact rather than rare-ish airframes being offered for sale on EBay to then fund other rare-ish airframes being scrapped does not make sense to me and IMHO is totally unacceptable. Especially When it appears there are vast sums being spent elsewhere, like I eluded to a simple repayment loan from the government as a last ditch safety net would have done the job.

What has this got to do with Cornwall Aviation Museum’s head in the sand attitude to what was known to be imminent?

Hi All,
I am terribly sorry for hijacking your thread Tony T : – (
I appear to be mistaken as regards the Millions of £’s already spent, Equipment given and even more £’s pledged, £2-Billion if I am not wrong is the latest for when the war is over in Ukraine to help rebuild.
Or am I alone in watching our own armed forces literally crumble away for the lack of common sense practises going out the window. All for the sake of the PC Bureaucrat’s in Whitehall that are stripping our Armed Services of the proper kit still after years and years of being told they need whatever.
Never mind our own public services become unfit for purpose again Whitehall Bureaucrat’s pen pushers, Bean counters all with their own agendas or anti brexit-eers doing whatever I don’t know, meanwhile it’s ordinary folk who get caught in the infighting and penny pinching never mind meeting Diversity quota’s.
Not only that we still give to some wealthy Countries that never spend it where it’s meant to go, not to mention projects in the UK that amount to nothing, Housing alleged Asylum seekers who claim it’s there human right to stay here even after committing heinous crimes the groomers amongst others to name but one group.
Let alone those that pretend to be children, A lot claim they come from war torn countries or fear for their lives because they are Gay just to stay here, etc. etc. These are the drain on our governments funds.
So you’ll forgive me if I get a little frustrated when I see bean counters, in local council and government officials ignore pleas for more time to sort things out, Raise more money by donations or arrange a loan rather than having to flog off bits of kit just to make ends meet, in this instance selling airframes to scrap airframes..
My main gripe is that we have Millions to GIVE certain causes but not to say here is a couple of million as a LOAN pay us back without interest when you star making a profit. No matter how long it takes they will get that money back in the end, where as with all the money being dished out to all and sundry it will never come back.
e.g. 2022 – £2 – £4 Billion spent in Aid just in the UK on refugees, what will it be this year ? and so on and so on. I am sure a couple of million would work wonders, I will admit there is a snag in my thinking though and that is it could open the flood gates of other worthwhile projects but hey if it helps those like the Cornwall Aviation Group why not.
Mods feel free to delete this post if it upsets some.

Hi All,
Surely with all the Millions being wasted on the Ukraine and accepting then putting up alleged asylum seekers you would have thought a few million given to aid this move would be pennies on the scale of things ?
Why not ask Charlie boy or Mr Spewnack I mean doesn’t this country have have money to fritter away ? giving to Countries that do not need it and home grown vanity projects it makes me want to weep.
Even giving somebody a tax break for donating the required amount what a complete mess the whole situation is.
Apologies for the rant all but it is true…:- (
