The last time more than five Corsairs gathered together was at the Corsairs Over Connecticut air show in 2011 (five of them are here from the 2010 event), but it has been decades since an air show could boast ten or more… and that just may happen at this year’s Thunder Over Michigan air show at Willow Run, which has just confirmed its tenth participant! Thunder Over Michigan, organized by the Yankee Air Museum in Ypsilanti, Michigan is one of the most popular air shows in the United States. This year the organizers are arranging what could be the largest Corsair gathering in decades. In fact, Michael Luther, the air show’s director, just announced the 10th Corsair on the list of expected participants! “We have very excited to organize this gather. The Corsair is one of the favorite WWII aircraft for many enthusiasts. We have invited every U.S. based operator and the European as well. We are very excited to now have ten airplanes confirmed. However, we won’t stop here and we will try to add few more!”

On seeing this video a friend remarked that he hasn’t seen that many Corsairs since the late 70s when he would frequently encounter the TV ships over the San Fernando Valley enroute to their filming location.

I was at Oshkosh in 1994.
They had ten corsairs flying around the pattern at that one.
Awesome sight and great to hear that it may happen again.
