As I was hurrying from Cosford yesterday (what a time to get a call from work on yer day off) I saw the Firestreak Missile being loaded into the back of a transit. Anyone know if its a relocation of the 50’s/60’s/70’s/80’s exhibits into the cold war hangar or just a brazen Al-Quaeda theft? I also noticed that the aircraft in Hangar 1 are very packed in at the one end. If they are spread out a bit more it would leave little room for the Comet. Does this mean that some of the les “famous” airframes are to be stored/removed/chucked outside? And will there still be room for the engine collection etc?I would have asked on site but as I say, those vindictive g*ts at work decided a wonky managers PC was far more important than my day off!!! (yes both the Manager and the PC are wonky!!)
Thanks

I know what you mean Ivan, I call in most weeks and all is changing, however the changes are nearly complete with hangar one the final piece of the jigsaw

The Museum is still in the middle of a major revamp so things are not all in their correct places yet I have been told
Badger617. Hangar 1 is like an Aviation version of an AutoJumble!!! 😀 If they have no room for some of the aero engines I can store them in my garage and give the neighbours a nice Sunday morning alarm call!! It will be nice when everything is in place. I go there around once a month on average and nothing has been static for very long recently. The RAFM should send all the staff on holiday for their excellent efforts recently. On the ‘packed in airframes’ theme, anyone know the ID and origin of the Wessex lurking against the hangar doors in hangar 1? I couldn’t make out any markings.

I’ve heard there is a shortage of munitions in Afghanistan.
