The Cosford airshow is coming around again and whilst the static will be a bit special the flying display looks a bit lean on their website. I know airshow websites don’t normally get updated during the last week but is there any new and interesting aircraft that have confirmed? Please not more helicopters!!!!!

Hopefully, either Flypast or Aeroplane, will carry a decent report of this show with photographs of the historic content that was on display in the static display.

To be honest I didn’t see that much of the flying display due to being busy with other things, but I though the static display was fantastic; well worth the entrance fee…but, of course, the dawn to dusk sunshine certainly helped to form my opinion of the event.
I had to queue on the hard shoulder of the northbound M54 for just over 2 hours to get in, but left at about 5.15 and it only took me about 20 minutes to get completely clear of the traffic.
I heard on the grapevine that a road accident on the main A41 in to Wolverhampton really messed the departing traffic up…some visitors were said to be stuck on the airfield until 9pm but, luckily for me, I was heading in the opposite direction.

Yeah I’d forgotten about the RNZAF B757 – Haven’t seen one since I last flew on one over ten years ago!
The runway is 24/06 which is indeed a worse prospect for lighting than Old Warden’s 21/03 – but it’s no worse than Duxford. The one time I went in 2016, I stood down the SW end. I got lousy photos all the same, but then the weather was frightful!
The traffic marshalling was a bit of a nightmare last time I went but as they insist on having the show on Sunday I physically can’t get there by train from Reading before the flying starts. I’m contemplating park-and riding from Woverhampton or one of the subsequent stations.

Looking forward to the appearance of the coverage of the varied events later this year, a lot of effort has been put in by true enthusiasts despite the problems caused by some areas of the official MOD. We have a legacy which includes airframes saved by a determined few and in some cases hidden away from those who would have scrapped them, until attitudes improved.

If I was going, I’d be looking forward to the RNZAF B757 flying display. It should be massively overpowered. The large static display should be worth viewing. I’m not going due to a south facing display line, narrow access/exit, and it’s size. No worries though, it’s sold out and I hope attendees have a cracking show.

Polish MiG-29, the A400M, Sycamore, Whirlwind and Hawker Fury are the big draws for me π
