Cosford today

Went over to Cosford today, the new building sure is impressive but can’t help thinking how much of it is wasted space, the plans for it are on display in the entrance hall, looks like the Lightning is to be positioned vertically pointing upwards, and the Javelin at a 45 degree angle facing upwards as well. Anyway, here’s some pics

Valiant still outside, don’t know how long for

My favourite exhibit, the F.9/40 Meteor prototype, managed to get a good shot of it by crouching behind the TSR2 (that’s why the pics so narrow, cropped out the TSR2 fuselage)

Prone position Meteor, found out from a book on Leicestershire airfields I bought in the shop that the prone position Meteor was a development of the Reid & Seigrist Bobsleigh (converted from the Desford) which was made at Desford aerodrome, which I can see from my house

Folland Gnat F1 in hangar one. There’s a lot of empty space in front of the Hastings so it’s possible to get a good photo of it, and of the Dakota with its wings off

Auster T7, seems to have suffered some damage on the tail which I haven’t noticed before, anyone know how it happened?

Cheers, Rob
