Mine and my sons first ever visit to the RAF Cosford museum and my goodness what an incredible site. So many types I had never seen before, and some I had seen but not this close up – fantastic!
Here’s a few mobile phone pics from the day, and although my tastes maybe different from other people’s I’m happy to post up a few more if peeps are interested?
First up the Lockheed Neptune was a first for me and I was genuinely stunned by its size. But the Opel Senator German staff car bought back some happy memories as I owned and drove a 3 litre T reg Senator back in the nineties (difficult to photograph as it was against the window).

The Opel is a “Brixmis” vehicle – 4×4 and armour plated – don’t think many senior staff would be pleased to be driven around in one!!!

Yep it was tucked into a corner near the Lincoln, I remember them in MT after they were liberated from the Argentinians, one had a round through the door and I think the other through the bonnet….
If memory serves me correctly the RAF contacted Merc for some parts and Merc said they hadn’t been paid for and they wanted them back, they were told to take it up with Argentina 🙂
They came back in the back of the captured Chinook and were used by 18 Sqn as Sqn hacks in RAFG as they were Lh Drive.

Did you see the G Wagon? It was next to the Pucara.
Good place isn’t it 🙂
Not sure I did, Tony, I was too busy explaining to my son what the Pucara was and its use in the Falklands war.
But yes, a superb museum and well recommended!

Always admired the dear ole Belfast. Of the ten built at least we have one undercover.
