a couple of questions if anyone can help from a recent visit to Cosford,-
K9942 Spitfire 1 why is the serial on the fin with sq. badge?
the Me 410 the unit badge below the cockpit, and a badge I think of a clog? on the engine cowl- what does this represent?

The Spitfire is like that because that’s how they did it prewar.

The unit badge and clog represent ZG26 “Horst Wessel”, the white part is a combination of the H and W initials. The aircraft may have flown with this unit.
Someone from Medway APS should be able to help with the Spitfire.
