I wonder why they did not paint the victor in an earlier scheme to match the Vulcan? Wouldnt the vulcan look awesome with a set of shrikes fitted! 😮

Cosford have had Victors in all three schemes over the years. Unfortunately the previous two were not looked after as this one seems to be, and are no longer around. 🙁

To me it seems to make perfect sense, the Valiant representing the V-bomber’s period as the nuclear deterrent, the Vulcan as a conventional bomber and the Victor as a tanker. The three aircraft in their respective liveries nicely telling the story of the V-bombers, cold war and beyond.

As and when Cosford re-unite the 3 V-Bombers, I’d love to see them all in gorgeous anti-flash white and low viz roundels

Perhaps it’s not in an appropriate specification for that paint scheme, Peter. In my opinion, museums like the RAFM should have aircraft in as close to authentic condition as possible, rather than painting them in schemes that they think would look nice.
