Could this be aircraft related?

I picked this up on Friday at an Estate Sale….

No one has ever seen a drill press with a handle like this on it.. & the 3 arms aren’t at the usual 120deg angle from each other. The sale was in Burbank which is paydirt for tool collectors owing to the fact that just about everyone there who is old worked for Lockheed at some point… including the guy who owned this.
Personally I think it looks a bit “Dan Dare” but my neighbor suggested it may be a modified yoke of some sort?

His tool boxes bore the marks of someone who worked on aircraft, some really nice aircraft hinges & billet handles etc on them… some other ****** got those tho 🙁

Interesting thought…I’d start by checking out photos of the yokes of the various LA-build aircraft of what might have been the era–various Electras and Hudsons, P-38, Douglases, etc. I’d have left the inevitable logo on the center boss, if I were modifying a yoke to fit a drill press, but apparently whoever did this, didn’t.
