Could this be Calshot in 1935?

Just dug it up.

Have a feeling that I took this en route on holiday to family in Jersey??

Cotteswold, what camera were you using back then? As well as a modern digital, i’m also using a 1917-19 model Kodak no 2, which was made up until about 1926, using 120mm film

Looking at the picture again the A/c on the left are definitely Londons but I think the centre one could be a Stranraer (201 had some)and the right hand boat possibly a Scarpa which 240 had at Calshot.

Excellent picture, nobody seems to have picked up on the fact that you took it. Have you anymore to share from that period?

Oil was first refined at Fawley in 1921, The pier and terminal are slightly earlier. Most certainly it has been expanded and rebuilt several times.

Not sure when the terminal was constructed, but this map shows the tanks as behind or north of the village of Fawley?

This is a recent photo of the refinery.

They look like oil storage tanks to me, part of the AGWI terminal. So I would agree that this is probably Calshot.

Would seem to be a logical conclusion, but this 1936 map of the area shows the village of Fawley to be further inland than the buildings in the right of the picture would suggest. The power station was not built at Fawley until the 1960’s.

They look to be Saro Londons and 201 had the London at Calshot.
