“If approved, Redditch Borough Council will be the first authority in the country to use a crematorium to heat a swimming pool”

Would it bother you if your local crem heated any type of public facility?

superb idea and thinking
it makes a change having a council with brains !!
having seen the fuel bill for my local high school if that sort of cost can be lost through carefull planning
and it can free up that cash for services for the living , more power to them
my only problem would be having the crematorium hidden from the pool for respect for the grieving
we cannot stop death it is part of nature however we can think more carefully how we use our dwindling resources !!

Otherwise it goes up the chimney and gets wasted without doing any good at all. When I pop my clogs they throw me in the furnace for the boiler of the local pool or school or anything else for that matter. Being dead I will not care about it.

The contractor is probably Himmler heating.
It is a tidy (if not ultimate) solution to using the heat generated.

This is old hat.
In the early 80’s, Monster Raving Looney (Bless his cotton socks) advocated this, along with the same idea from burning waste at the tip. Further, he advocated building Gym’s next to Old folks homes with the treadmills wired up as generators for heating our oldies. It was brilliant then, it still is….so at last somebody is listening.

It’s just heat, people – there aren’t any ashes or anything else for that matter.

In reply to the original question-not at all. I’m in full agreement with whoever Laviticus was chatting to though.

No problem, just so long as the pool filters are working well!

Heat is generated and not wasted. I don’t really see a problem…..
I do! Just sounds a little off putting.
