Courage and Passion (video on the Lancaster bomber)

I used original pictures, video and flight simulator segments to produce this video to remember and honor the crews of the Lancaster aircraft during WWII.

Enjoy!

Lovely little video, that. Nice to see 50 Sqn Lancs, and that the Stirling and Halifax get a look-in too.

Hi,
That time of year again to remember. Just thought I’d re-activate this thread for those new to the forum and for those who have not seen this video honoring the crews of the Lancaster Bombers.

Discovered this organization (Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust) recently.
http://www.abct.org.uk/
They are making significant progress to enhance public awareness about the importance of airfield history and heritage and preservation.
Some very interesting videos and stories.
If abandoned airfields tweak your curiosity, do check this site out!

Two of us braved the weather to have 2 mins silence at our little memorial this morning, I thought about some of the clips you have used in this tribute, helps bring it to life for me, makes me feel very humble and indebted.

Excellent news Jack. Glad I could bring the event a little more to life.

Congratulations on a well done project.

I think your text should read cooperation between “Britain Australia and Canada” and also “Britain’s most effective,” The Scots Welsh and Irish also flew in Lancasters and would take umbrage at being described as English.

There are at least two Lancaster crew members that frequent http://www.lancaster-archive.com/

Thanks David.
Yes, your point is well taken and recognized in regards to the cooperating countries. The number of participating countries extended beyond Scotland, Wales and Ireland and so I amended the description to acknowledge countries belonging to the British, Commonwealth and Dominion realms. By all means, no intention to exclude.

Contacting surviving Lancaster aircrew

While there is good interest in the Lancaster bomber in this forum, I would like to reach as many surviving “Lanc crew members” as possible. Are there certain internet sites that stand out as being visited by surviving Lancaster crew or relatives of crew?

Re an operational tour, I might be mistaken but I thought 30 trips was the norm, disregarding the PFF (50) and some normal Bomber Command squadron half-mission ‘credits’ against ‘soft’ targets towards the end of the war.
An evocative compilation, well done!
JM.

Forgot to reply here. Yes JM, 30 missions was by far the norm for a tour of duty in the Lanc.

For those concerned about the mention of only 3 countries in the video, I have amended the description to give credit by including all British, Commonwealth and Dominion aircrews who flew the Lancasters.
