I have been scanning a few shots for another thread and whilst doing so cam accross these from the CAF airshow at Coventry in 1988.
Looking at them now it makes you realise how things change but without you noticing. How many of these are now gone or just in different colour schemes?

My prime memory of this show was not getting paid for my participation in Nord 3202 G-BEFH. Although the show was under the banner of the UK squadron of the, then, Confederate Air Force the organiser was a rogue. He did a bunk with the proceeds during the display on the Sunday and subsequently declared himself bankrupt. Needless to say, those who had provided aircraft to fly in the show got zilch which left a bad taste in my mouth to say the very least. The same was true of all the other participants.
Cheers,

Hi Digby,
It’s not my intention to open old wounds, in fact my intention is to close a wound of sorts. I remember seeing reports of this accident in the papers when I was 8 years old, and after all these years I’ve only heard anecdotal accounts of the accident. Now I know it sounds like I’m just being ‘nosey’, but I genuinely feel that it is useful and proper to have a definitive, official version of events in cases like this. Without it, the varying, anecdotal versions tend to start being aired and get out of hand. I firmly believe that this isn’t helpful to anyone (eg the bereaved and the current operators of the same type of aircraft) or respectful to the person who lost thier life.
I’ve heard three different accounts of this same accident, all of which vary considerably. I have nothing with which to confirm or deny any of these accounts when the incident gets mentioned on forums or in conversation, and I’m simply asking for some clarification so the facts can be straightened out.
I apologise for any offence caused.

As far as I can see, only TFC’s P63 has since been lost. The P51 is G-HAEC, now ‘Big Beautiful Doll’ and owned by Rob Davies, the Corsair is still with TFC in FAA colours, Spit MH434 is still with OFMC and ML417 is now in California under the ownership of Tom Freidkin. The dismantled B25 project has recently gone to Europe (either Holland or Belgium, can’t remember which), where she’s having alot of TLC lavished on her to bring her up to very fine static condition.
Thanks for the pics, it’s interesting to see the two Spits and the P51 in their film colours.
