Covid vaccines and the EU

Has there ever been such a stark exposure of the dictatorial intent and ambition of the EU such as we’ve all witnessed  over the last three days ? 

Ponderously slow to get off the mark in their pursuit of vaccine supply contracts, they’ve threatened, cajoled and bullied on an almost industrial scale in a vain attempt to play ‘catch-up’ and maintain an image as the Great Provider.

Where are now all the remnants of the sullen army of Remainers,  all, formerly so vocal in their support ?  If nothing else, we’ve witnessed the supremacy of the nation state in its ability to act swiftly and decisively when those qualities are most in demand.

The EU has sustained a body blow to its image of capability which might – hopefully – prove fatal.  If there was ever any residue of belief in the capacity of the EU to improve the quality of life,  that belief has sustained a mortal blow and is beyond recovery.
