CR-42 Luftwaffe archives

After the Italian armistice  on 8 September 1943 the Luftwaffe ordered 200 CR-42LW’s, 112 were accepted into service. Other CR-42’s from Italy and Belgium were also used by the Luftwaffe for fighter training in France, Belgium, Italy, Austria and the Balkans.

To operate the aircraft servicing information and documentation must have been produced in the German language and we have proof in the form of overhaul information detailing fits and clearances for the Fiat A-74 engine.

For both a/c and engine we have information in English, Italian and Swedish but there are gaps which the Luftwaffe archives might fill. Can the Luftwaffe specialists help?

It would appear that detailed documentation in the German language for the Fiat A-74 RC 38 engine was published as early as 31 May 1941.

Was the overhaul of the engines sub contracted to Germany?
