Cracks found in STN runway

Cracks in the runway were blamed for the diversion of 13 planes bound for Stansted Airport.

Incoming aircraft were re-routed to Luton Airport after a departing pilot reported seeing damage to the surface of the runway at around 4.30pm. An airport spokesman said engineers quickly fixed the problem and by 6pm flights were returning to normal.

He said outbound flights had not been affected by the problem and at no point were passengers in any danger. The spokesman said the problem had now been fixed and schedules were back to normal.

Doesnt sound too bad its a familar prolem to new Formula 1 tracks and it leads to major problems even if it doesnt sound to bad.Cracks and a rugged surface can rip tyres to shreads not to bad for a F1 car but a FR or EZ 737 full of passengers could be lethal.
