Thanks Phil, you’re pretty good at these too yaself !!
Quizes are great because while you’re researching a very obscure aircraft you’re learning so much more than you normally would with classic aviation.
Cheers

To be honmest I thought it was developed into the SBD Dauntless.
The Northrop BT-1 had bad handling traits and no wing folding provision. Douglas sorted this out. You can see the similarities in the tail surface.Cheers,
Chris
🙂
Hey Chris,
Yep it was develope into the SBD.

ah haaaaaa !!!!!!!!
I have it !!!
Douglas BT-1
Was a originally a Northrop design but Douglas took it over and modified the undercart to retract inwards.

Are they semi-retracted or fixed into position and heavily faired?
Can I ask that as a teeny-weeny clue ???? :pCheers

Ok Chris,
Theirs your teeny-weeny clue :p

Ha ha, Crazymainer…bring it on !!! 😀
However, the second pic is still eluding me.
I thought it may have been an early prototype Dauntless but those faired wheels are a stigma.

Alright TNZ your going to……………..
OK TNZ,
On the next quiz your going to be bared :diablo:
Yes both of the plane are Douglas one is the DT-2 and the other is the -5, now that leaves the second photo. 😉
Cheers Crazymainer
By: turbo_NZ - 4th October 2004 at 02:55
Also unsure about the DT-5 (the top pic), because all of the variants (DT-1 to 5) are quite similar looking and the photo is not that clear.
But after further research, I’m going to go with DT-2 !!
🙂

No 2 looks kinda-like a Douglas TBD-1 Devastator.
Yeah I’ll go along with that, but the undercart is all wrong.
Which makes it a little tricky. Gonna have consult my books when I get home from work… 😀

Umm,..you’re right, it is a single-seater Spad (just had another look).
Is it a AD-4 (A-1D) ?
Cheers
