He learn on Glenn Curtis other Triad I read a real nice write up on Lt.Ellyson in Naval Air sometime back. One of the truely forgotten Early Pioneering Pilots.

Ok Guys,

Since everyone was so close here is what it is.

The plane is the Curtis A-1 Triad Hydroaeroplane. The photo is of the plane on its first official run for the Navy. This was the first plane that the US Navy ever had.

Here’s my guess…..

Curtiss type D III, the IV had a passenger seat…

This was the military version of the hydroaeroplane, as Curtiss called it…

The civilian version had twin floats…

Hey Stormbird,

Very good you get #2 and #5

#2 is the first navy Flying Bomb it was build by The Dayton Aircraft Company.

Now for the first one here are some hints

The Plane is a Curtis the photo was taken on Lake Keuka and yes its a Triad

Last one is, The Bell Model 61, Designed to provide the US Navy with a package combining both Hunting and killing parts for ASW role, HSL-1s did not last very long in service, First Sqd to have them was HU-1, Because Korean War ended Royal Navy did not get theres, Production ended after only 50 were built, Cheers Rob 🙂 , Tally Ho! Ok, Number 2, Is a Doodlebug, US Navy counterpart of the Bug, A autopilot-controlled aircraft tested by Sperry Gyroscope Company, But my pic does not give aircraft type?(poss built by Sperry/Delco, Or at Dayton-Wright Company) Cheers Rob, Phil. :diablo:

Ok, Maybe a Curtiss biplane(Triad type, but that pics got wheels?) for number 1, As it looks similiar to the type, Eugene Ely landed on the US cruisers Birmingham 14 nov 1910, And USS Pennsylvania 18 Jan 1911., Cheers Rob, Phil. :diablo: (Looks to small for the Golden Flyer, But Glenn did chop and change a lot, had many Pontoons/Hydrofoils, float types.)

Third one down is a Naval Aircraft Factory P-9-1 Flying Boat.

The only one I know is No.4, the Martin P4M Mercator.
