All
Im currently in the process of creating a web site. This site will have a photo gallery created. I would like to be able to set this gallery up so as searchs can take place, any ideas on the tooling I require to complete this?

I think that Coppermine is free: http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php
I haven’t tried it myself but it looks quite good, lots of features and with the ability to get it to look just like you want it to.

Do you just want to display pictures, or do you want some sort of online catalogue?
To be honest, I use the simple one offered in MS FrontPage. It works for me, and is flexible in the way it can be used to present the pictures. But there is absolutely no database integration.
I host both the fullsize and thumbnail images on my own resources.

A photo gallery in which you want to search requires both PHP (or PERL, ASP etc) and a database (MySQL is the most common one).
I don’t think there is much advanced photo gallery software available for free, because it requires a lot of work to build one. Either you pay for the software or you write your own gallery software.

re: Photo Gallery.
Yeah, Im planning on hosting all the photo’s on my own web space. Is there any where that I could get example of photo gallerys. I’ve checked via google and there are not to many hits that are anyway decent.

I think that may depend on the level of complexity you require, and whether or not you want to host all the photographs in your own webspace
