Ello everyone,
just to let you know today I dont my cross-country qual!! I took off from sywell intending to go to cambridge, then onto nottingham, returning via turweston.
Sywell-cambridge leg went very well, and I was even offered a stirght in approach which i took, makes my life easy! From there I phoned nottingham that reported CAV OK, but building clouds to the west. I decided to press on.
Got my MATZ approval overhead alconbury, then crossed wittering and cottesmore, changed to east midland app, got a zone transit, by this time the weather was getting bad, changed to nottingham radio, they reported a storm.
I diverted back to sywell thinking I has failed, as I would not landaway at 2 airports. Following the Dav VOR past lecister I changed back to sywell, and luckily the CFI was in the air and heard my call, he said I could land at turweston instead of turning overhead.
So once again I changed my route, back to turweston, landed there in heavy crosswinds, and then had an easy trip back to sywell.. once again a crosswind, but went ok.
All in all a great experience, but not one I would enjoy repeating!! But i know I will in many flights to come.
Thanks for listening,
loz howlett

Very well done! It sounded like you done very well certainly above the requirement for QXC. My QXC was not quite as exciting as yours but I remember the weather being far from perfect and flying above the scattered clouds at 2000ft about 200ft above the tops just about remaining in sight of the ground between the gaps. I could not see Southend from about 3 miles out due to cloud but took the advise of a fellow aviator and followed the pier decending which led straight to the overhead. My QXC was Shoreham-Manston-Southend.
Well Done!

Well done! Plan A went to a ball of chalk, so you came up with a Plan B, and made it happen.
Sometimes you learn a hell of a lot more from situations like that. Nice one! 🙂
