Crossair

It has now been confirmed that 24 people died on this flight including a britsh singer. The serch for the remaining 14 passengers has now been called off. I am cabin crew with crossair and the shock of my colleagues in zurich and elsewhere in europe is that we are devastated and extremly upset at what has happened. We are still uncertain of our colleagues on this flight. The rear emergency exits at the rear of the plane have been shown on the news to be closed and we can only take this to mean that nobody escaped from these exits inlcuding the cabin crew. I am sure you will join me in expressing sympathy to the families of all those who persished on this flight.

RE: Crossair

I found out how the singer was.

Extract from the Times Newspaper:

The survivors were pulled out through the tailpiece, which had been severed in the crash. All had suffered burns.

The American pop singer Melanie Thornton, on tour to publicise her solo album Ready to Fly, was among those who died. “It is true that Miss Thornton was on the passenger list. She is not among the survivors,” Karl Steiner, a Zurich police spokesman, said.

RE: Crossair

something in the times today- i didn’t recognise the name (i mean she can’t be that popular).

its a shame about the crash but i fear a 2PAC effect (singer dies – music is released for years afterwards)

RE: Crossair

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-11-01 AT 05:39 PM (GMT)]Jon, two years ago, I was working at Jet Aviation in Basel, when the Saab 340 crashed on take off from Zurich.

I was in the Crossair cantine daily for Lunch, and know how the whole place was affected by that incident. I’ve already mailed the condolence book (condolence@crossair.com).

I have read on Reuters that of the 29 pax and 5 crew, 24 bodies have been found, 2 people have been released from Hospital, and a further 7 are still being treated, 2 of them for serious injuries.

2 Crew are confirmed among the survivors, although there has been no information if they are cabin crew or flight crew.

The Pilot and Co-pilot were both Swiss citizens, and the Pilot had been with Crossair for 22 years, and was described as ‘very experienced’ by CEO Andre Dose.

I flew on an LX RJ100 as recently as August, on the BSL-ZRH shuttle.

Glad to hear you’re ok, our thoughts are with you and your colleagues.

Matt
