Does anyone here know if the Croydon Airport Visitors Centre is open still? Hoping to visit this Sunday as from what i’ve seen it’s only open the first Sunday of every month. Also, does anyone know the best way to get there via public transport? Can’t find any up to date information on the web and sent e-mails off to every address I can find but with no reply yet.
Cheers, Rob

Off the top of my head, two bus routes serve the Croydon Airport Visitor Centre, these being routes 289 operated by Arriva London and 119 operated by Metrobus. As correctly pointed out by Tuck1940, the nearest railway station is Waddon from where a short walk to the Purley Way will enable you to link up the a southbound 289… Route 119 can be picked up from East Croydon train station as there is a bus terminus right outside the station. The 119 terminates at Croydon Airport itself. The 289 can be picked up from either Purley station or near to West Croydon station… It would be handy to know from where you would be traveling as this would enable me to suggest the best method of getting there…
Hope this helps,

Cash in the Attic
Curiously the Croydon terminal building museum featured on the BBC TV programme ‘Cash in the Attic’ today. It suggested that the museum was open to the public but, as the programme was probably a repeat, I would’t place too much reliance on that as representing the current state of play!

re
I have followed the progress with interest, since they knocked down an obtrusive petrol station and were they talking about buying whats left of the af?

You can only get to Croydon Airport by bus as it’s a long long walk from a railway station.
I’m afraid I don’t know a bus number so you’ll have to go on the TfL website to find out – use Imperial Way as the destination address.
I can’t help regarding the visitors’ centre – I didn’t even know there is/was one! So much for their publicity given that I live in the borough.
