Iam just wondering what has happened to the remaining of the Dc10 fleet that were operating for Cubana. I have noticed some pictures of them stored in havana, but have they now moved. Now that AOM went bust, have they got any owners.

There’s also some quite big bits of a U2 in a non-aviation museum in Trinidad, a seaside town a couple of hundred km from Havana. When I went to Havana they didn’t seem to care what photos I took of the Sea Fury as long as I kept off the grass. Having little ability to plan I wandered along in Havana, looked down a side street and saw a Sea Fury. Reminded me of when I saw a Mig 21 in the middle of the road in the Czek Republic, 1993.
The airport at Havana has a lovely old IL62 converted to a cafe/bar. The beer’s quite cheap and it’s much more civilised than the airport itself. Horrible paint job on it, but if you ask really nicely they’ll let you sit in the cockpit. Cheap beer, sitting in a jet cockpit, making jet noises, watching 1950’s Chevies and Buicks going past out of the cockpit window…….aaahh.

Nice set of pics. No problems taking photos? need any special passes or permits?
Thinks: don’t know why I’m asking I’m not likely to get to Cuba, just curious I guess 😎

And then after a 40 minute taxi ride I also ‘accidentally stumbled’ over the Museo del Aire 😀

Kabir, according to a friend of mine who visited Havana just before Xmas he saw most An2s in the colours of Aerotaxi but also a few in Cubana colours. Wether the Cubana An2s are still in scheduled service or not I’m not sure. But as with Aerocarribean and Aerogaviota, Aerotaxi is affiliated with Cubana.

They also operated a small fleet of ex Aviaco F27s but these have since been sold on and are expected to be replaced with ATR42s. Aerogaviota, a Cubana subsidiary has flown the ATR within Cuba for some time now.
Does Cubana still operate the An2 on scheduled service?

It seems the Soviet equipment is very useful for communism :D. I don’t understand how people travel in and out of cuba. Does the communism allow this?

cheers for the info.:)

McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30. AOM is a French airline, now part of AirLib. It flies several DC-10 aircraft, including this one which is also operated on behalf of Cubana.

According to the Kuoni “Tropical Sun” 2004 brochure, flights from Gatwick to Holguin, Cuba, are operated by a Cubana A330! I think this may be a terrible typing error because they mean Monarch Airlines!
