This might be quite a simple question but I’ve struggled to find the exact answer or at least a common answer; at the height of the Cuban missile crisis Avro Vulcans were readied on QRA – would they have been in all over white or had some/all changed over to camo colours?
Additionally what weapon would have been carried at the time? I had a feeling this would be Red Beard but again not completely sure.

White. 44/50/101 Sqdns/Waddington Vulcan B.1 had 24 Yellow Sun Mk.2; the Scampton Vulcan 2 Wing (27/83/617 Sqdns) was forming/trying to grasp Blue Steel; an interim capability existed on pre-BS mod.standard aircraft, with 8 Yellow Sun 2 available, held at Finningley (no Scampton SSA).
Also white: Victor 1: 10/15 Sqdns/Cottesmore had 16 Yellow Sun Mk.1, 55/57 Sqdns/Honington had 16 Yellow Sun Mk.2.
The 8 Red Beards of 7 Sqdn/Wittering, Valiant had been stood down 30/9/62 and were onway to 73 Sqdn/Akrotiri to join 24 already there in NEAF Canberra B.15/16. Saceur’s 24-strong Valiant Force at Marham had 48 Mk.28.
Of all this only Yellow Sun Mk.2 was dispersable, and that would have been fraught.
