I like to know what type of info I can get out of these two pictures of Cuban Patol boats.
What kind of Patrol boat is it?. What is the purpose of all the antenas.

Now a Osa II number 262, by the way these pictures are only a week old.

Thanks Luis

Another picture of the same Patrol Boat, as originally delivered to Cuba.
By the way the Patrol Boat are from the Cuban Border Troops.

Notice that it does not have as meny antennas.
Take care Luis

Sorry luisdo,
I re-read your original post & just realised you were only asking the ID of the 1st boat. 😮
Sorry!

Cuba has a navy?

The 2nd boat looks like an Osa class fast attack craft (FAC) – maybe an Osa-II.
Osa-IIs were armed with SSN-2c Styx SSMs.
Are you sure they are aerials? They would make damn good fishing rods! 😀

Thanks Luis
You suspected it at all. Such configuration does allow to intercept comunications and does allow in some way to locate the transmitter.

Kilo class subs aren’t much good at the counter-narcotics mission! :diablo:
They also don’t seem to be good at stopping inner tube rafts and converted 53 Chevrolet trucks from making the passage to the U.S…..:diablo: :diablo:

Short of finding a major source of revenue, or being gifted new equipment by Venezuela, it seems somewhat unlikely that much will change. The best thing now would be to normalise relations with America, and switch emphasis to the more relevant counter-narcotics role. Picking up a load of nice cheap patrol boats in the 100-300 ton range would probably be the best bet – Kilo class subs aren’t much good at the counter-narcotics mission! :diablo:

Did a quick bit of fishing in the pond and came up with this for you mate:
What I’d like to know is, how will the Cubans restore their once proud navy? They had a reasonable navy for the region, a Foxtrot, a couple of Koni’s.
Perhaps with the fading out of the Castro administration, Cuba may once again rise up as a decent military force.

That is Soviet Stenka class patrol boat, KGBs border Guards version of the proven OSA (pr.205) desing. the twin 25mm is propaply domestic addition…notice that there is similar in the place of the Drum Tilt in OSA class too
