Current 707 Operators

Anybody have any idea how many 707’s are currently in civil service right now? I’m sure it’s a low number, but I’m curious if any airlines still use her to haul people around. What about freight companies?

Agreed with Sonnenfliger, its a very useful resource with more and more contributors all the time which helps with the accuracy and how up to date it is. Just take a look at one of the sheets, theres a riduclous wealth of info on there.

Where can you find all this info again?

Just go to www.airlinerlist.com and click on B707 – this will download an Excel spreadsheet with every single built 707/C-135 listed. The site has lists for almost every airliner type, it’s an Alladin’s cave for anoraks like me! 😉

Does Omega Air Tanker still have a couple?

They have two AFAIK ?

The recently purchased from the Indonesian Air Force one, left PIK for a sabbatical in Romania I’m told.

I gather the CAA aren’t awfully pleased about the noise it makes in the UK though ?

Glad to know some people are still getting to fly on 707’s as passengers. Wish I could have at least once.

With number 133, does that include military 707 models (i.e. C-137) or just 707 models being used for various air forces.

Where can you find all this info again?

Saha Airlines were the outfit that lost a 707 in Iran a few weeks back, however as Sonnenflieger says they do have a couple. Interrogating airlinerlist further it says they now probably only have 2 in active commercial passenger service, although they “operate” several still in military configuration.

According to the on-line bible for msn fundamentalists – Servaas Verbrugge’sAirlinerlist.com – there were 39 707s in service with civilian operators as of 23 May. A few of them VIP and troop carriers, the rest are:

Saha Airlines – 5
BETA Cargo – 3
Skymaster Airlines – 3
AZZA Transport – 2
Cargoplus Aviation – 2
Hewa Bora Airways – 2
Johnsons Air – 2
Kinshasa Airways – 2
Mahfooz Aviation – 2
Omega Air – 2 (civil tankers)
Gulf Falcon – 2
Sudanese States Aviation – 2
Allied Air – 1
Ewa Airways – 1
Global Airways – 1
TAAT – 1
Tristar Air – 1
Wimbi Dira Aviation – 1

It seems Africa is the place to go for some four-holer action… just like Colombia was for Caravelle hunters a few years ago. There are 133 707/720s active, of which 94 are operated by air forces, governments or other non-airline ops. There are 603 C-135s in service as well – not bad considering the oldest ones still active have been since 1957…

As far as I know Omega Air still operates some.

I’m talking about airlines, airline freight companies, or dedicated freight companies (i.e. UPS which incidentally still operates the DC-8 I believe), not air force VIP aircraft. I’ll probably do a military 707 thread soon anyway. I’m just curious about whether or not this classic plane is still in civilian service or not.

I think the Romanian airforce still has one for VIP duty. As should the Iranian AirForce as VIP transports and tankers.

Open to correction but wasn’t the very last pax carrying 707 operated by an Iranian carrier lost in an aborted landidng a few weeks back? Can’t remember the airlines name but all the articles seemed to confirm that it was the last passenger hauling 707 still in use, apparently it used to be operated by the Iranian armed forces. I’m sure someone on here will know more.
