We would welcome comments via this Forum about the current and recent magazines. What is good and more importantly, what is considered not so good.
For instance do readers like the pictures that overlap between pages (other than the lead shots)? Or is the design fine as it is?
We also would like suggestions for any future Poll questions.

RE: Current Magazine
Thanks for all the comments.
I am afraid that despite everything, some errors do creep through in spelling and the A320 shot, but we are trying to minimise these.
The magazine should be available in all WHSmiths in the UK and is generally taken off sale on the Tuesday prior to the on sale date (second Wednesday of the month). Subscribers should get the magazine even earlier. You can order the magazine from any newsagent.
We looked at complimentaryy copies in airport lounges and airlines, but the number of ‘freebies’ required is uneconomical.
We cannot do anything about the high price of the magazine abroad and we know that it is a problem, so I just recommend you look at the benefits of subscribing.
We are planning to revisit UK airports and Leeds/Bradford is on the list. I am also waiting for more information from Sangster International before publishing the article.
Keep up the comments.

RE: Current Magazine
I’m rather happy with the actual magazine;
However I’d like to point out one thing : the price.
The price looks OK to me for British readers, but it’s very expensive for international people : here in Paris it’s over 7 euros!!

RE: Current Magazine
I am very happy with the magazine, I’ve bought it from issue 2, which was the first issue I saw as some of the shops in Scarborough are a little inconsistent with their magazines on offer.
It was high time that a magazine was published to cater for airline enthusiasts, as AFM is obviously military, and Flypast is mostly military-related. Airliner fans definitely used to be overlooked but not any more.
I think the magazine could include some sort of catalogue detailing all the videos, DVDs etc on offer, as I considered buying a Brussels Airport video and a Sabena route video and they are no longer advertised in the magazines (I cannot use the online shop as it does not support debit cards).
The features have the right balance between airlines/airliners/airports, and the news section is very good with some excellent supporting photography. More features on vintage airliners and defunct airlines would be most welcome in my opinion, as we recently saw the loss of Europe’s greatest (in my opinion) airline, which was also one of its oldest, before it had been featured in depth in the magazine.
The centre photos are, by the way, almost invariably excellent.
Great stuff:-)

RE: Current Magazine
can’t you start a similar topic on AFM? I guess there are many people who wanted to say something about the current articles.

RE: Sangster Intl??
I thoroughly enjoyed the Air Jamaica article in the May 2002 issue and it said there would be a Sangster International article on it’s way soon – I’m really impatient and wondered if you have any idea which issue it will be in?
Thanks,

RE: Current Magazine
Well first I would like to say that you do a fantastic job with the magazine, its one of the best out there!
Just one or two things….
1-Firstly I find sometimes find silly mistakes in the magazine such as last months article on the A300/A310 showed an A320s cockpit rather than that of the aircraft that the article was about!I understand that sometimes mistakes are inevitable but I would hope that someone at Keymags could tell the difference from one cockpit from another!
2-Also occasionally there are quite a few spelling mistakes around, surely getting spelling right is one of the main concerns of the magazines editorial? It shows the high quality of the magazine and in my opinion not getting the spelling correct gives a poor impression of the magazine to first time readers and also long term subscribers.
Other than that keep going, you are doing a great job with the magazine and I will certainly keep buying it!!

Hi,
I would like to see a follow up to the UK Airport scene thing u did when the magazine first started – revisit them a couple of years on – i mean from your last article Leeds/bradford for instance has got a fair few new/upgraded services!
Cheers

RE: Current Magazine
Not sure this is an editorial problem or not…
Sometimes it can be diffucult to buy a copy of AW outside of the big book retailers such as WH Smith. In the Isle of Man any way!
I also noticed that sometimes (going back 6 months-1 year admittedly) that out of date issues are on sale rather than the current issue.
Just a suggestion – at some airports (eg. Manchester) there are a bundle of complimentary magazines in the departure lounge (Economist, Vogue, T3 et al) and it would seem a natural placement for AW to catch people’s eyes. People with no pressing interest in the subject matter may be more amenable to reading a copy in such surroundings.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-05-02 AT 03:53 PM (GMT)]Hi,
AW has very little flaws, and the snaps are amazing! But one thing i find which can be improved. Hope you dont mind this suggestion. But AW sometimes gets inconsistence. One feature will be world class but in the same magezine you might find another feature which will be so-so. Well thats it…AW RULEZ!!
