Shamelessly lifted from WIX, I saw this and thought it deserved posting here for non-WIXers and non-Facebookers. There’s a newly restored Curtiss P36 Hawk set to make its debut at Chino this weekend. It looks jolly tasty it has to be said…

I hope they do fly it with the Hawk 75, what a special display that would be. I’m now even more jealous of all those who will be at Legends this year.

No longer a rumour, as it’s been announced for Flying Legends! How lucky we are in the UK to (soon) have the P-36 and the Hawk 75 together under one roof!
Some photos from Chino below:

Ando – aside from the info in the post JohnTerrell linked to, nothing else seems to have surfaced.
I love “surprise” restorations like this. How fantastic!

So, anything further on this aircraft’s history and where is has been hiding all these years? Looks stunning. This machine was flying at Selfridge Field at the same time that Australian based Doug Hamilton’s C.40 was flying as the Group’s headquarters hack. Would be nice to see together.

Have to agree with Mike
Another Matt nightingale master piece.
The P-40C is just the same.
Word Last legends was that this year would see some shiny aircraft over Duxford.
Well done to all who are making this happen!

And the big rumours here at Chino is that it will be appearing at Legends in July !!!

Yep, good information shared on the WIX forum as to its identity: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=55766&sid=b160c7ab785132a2efe2c215adf85a85&start=15
Albert, since watching the piece in which Hinton mentions that it is owned by The Fighter Collection, that was my next thought too, considering how quickly the old TFC P-40B moved on following the completion of their polished P-40C. If the Hawk 75 were to be sold on, I could only hope it would go to one of the French warbird operators.
Anyway, I’m already greatly anticipating the eventual sight of this P-36C coupled with TFC’s polished P-40C flying together, and the even sweeter possibility to see those two paired with the Redbull P-38, perhaps?

the P-36C is 38-210 in 27th Pursuit Squadron markings

Looks beautiful.
Can’t wait to see the P-36 in formation with the Hawk 75.
Knowing TFC’s previous aircraft movements, can’t help but think it is too close a type the Hawk 75 and that aeroplane may move to pastures new?
Either way we are very lucky to have these Warbirds coming and going from the UK skies.

If you watch the video that is linked to a couple posts above, Steve Hinton mentions that the aircraft is owned by The Fighter Collection, and it will be shipped over to Duxford following this weekend’s Planes of Fame airshow as it will also be flying in this year’s Flying Legends airshow.

She looks stunning, I hope like many of the other Aircraft from Chino we will see her in the UK someday soon.

Steve Hinton tells us a little bit about it in the second video: http://ktla.com/2015/05/01/planes-of-fame-air-show/
