Welcome to Avroflyer1, obviously Percivalflyer would be second choice!
Here is the thread for our last discussion on Percival things.

I guess this site would be the closest to the Percival Appreciation Society.

Hello Avroflyer 1 – I’ll add my welcome to the forum too.
Happy to talk about ‘FFD – such as I know/remember. Am still in regular contact with a couple of other ex-MAPS/MAM Trustees who might provide info – particularly the (ex) Vice Chairman who delivered it to the buyer in Isle of Man and has kept in touch with some of the people involved.

Q6
Welcome aboard Avroflyer
I worked on these types many years ago, but sadly all I have are my memories of these lovely A/C.
What are your interests in this type?

“Percival Q6 Cutaways…” – and in particular G-AFFD
Gentlemen, and in particular, RP Smith. I have picked up on this thread and have just signed up to the Forum as I too am searching for information on the Q6 but more specifically the said G-AFFD. I am interested in details of the wing structure including the inner to outer wing joint configuration and also of the history behind where she was and what happened to her prior to her recent residency in the Isle of Man. RPS, from your latest message it sounds like you were involved in the aircraft at Redhill and subsequently? If so it would make my day if I could probe a little deeper! Meanwhile is there any chance of a peek at the stuff you’re sending Dustyone??
I’m not sure how to handle E-Mail through this Forum so I’ll have to bone up on that.
Cheers and here’s hoping!

PS don’t think I’ve got a Proctor cutaway – or rather I may have, but not a clue where to find it! Q.6 pictures are split between those in books/published articles and when we were moving it Redhill-Duxford then Duxford-Sutton Coldfield.
PPS perhaps there should be a Percival Aircraft Appreciation Society or is there already something like that?

Q6 Cutaway
My sincerest thanks RPS for your kind offer, the first two of your selection sound fine. — your third item (partial cutaway) I have seen.
Would it be possible to e-mail them to me please? — if so then I would indeed be most grateful.
May I be greedy & ask if you have any on the Proctors Please? — I never have been able to find any good ones of this type.
Have a good day.

Dustyone, I have two different cut-aways (presumably one of them the same as Consul’s) in my Q.6 file from the time when ‘FFD was acquired by the Midland Aircraft Preservation Society in 1973.
The ‘better’ of the two is by J.H.Clark of “Aeroplane” and was published in “Aeroplane Spotter” on Feb 12th, 1942. This includes a scrap section illustrating undercarraige retraction.
The other one by J.P. of “Flight” was published in that journal on Dec 16th, 1937 in an article entitled ‘The Percival Twins’ (the Q.4 and Q.6). This cut-away really only shows detail of the nose, undercarraige/centre section and a diagram of a piece of wing.
I also have 4 different 3-views.
Let me know if you want any of this – and how.

If you P.M. me with your postal address I can photocopy one for you – my flatbed scanner is duff so can’t send electronically.
