I know this was bashed around before but I thought that this might ‘clear’ the rumours up a little. In the new ‘Pilot’ magazine it reports the following.
On reading the rumours on the Internet forums we contacted the RAF, who confirmed that the CWH had been invited to bring the Lanc over for the 60th anniversary flypast. The CWH are considering the logistics, costs and engineering support required. The hours used on the airframe and engines will also have to be considered.
The warbird part of the display will be launched from Duxford during ‘Flying Legends’ weekend. The Lanc could also possible attend RIAT too.

Does anyone remember a while back Flypast reporting that half the Confederate Air Force were coming over for a season?
Great as it would be, we have a Lancaster why not get the B-29 over here?

Ah so it was you then!!! 😀 😀
To be honest, not this time, but when I saw the cover being put together, I did comment that the headline would create a few waves! All the “Old Timer” content is compiled by Peter March, and he does indicate in the article that this is still to be confirmed as its down to the CWH now.

Well if this ends up as being true, it would be three Lancasters at Duxford what a line-up that would make?
Then maybe they could get Just Jane on a low loader down to duxford and have three Lancasters taxi around the airfield !!!!
Just a thought old boy :p

Well if it’s ever going to happen, I would imagine the VE-Day 60th Anniversary would be the only opportunity which would even get close to justifying the costs and risks. As I said before, I hold an optimistic view on this one, and wish all those involved in any such project my very best wishes. 🙂

I hope this can happen it would be a unique chance to have two Lancasters in the same Air space, I am wonering also what other Aircraft have been invited to attend this flypast and to fly from Legends on this day, Looks like either way this years Legends is going to be over more special this year.
