We have 2 of these in a collection of spares recently purchased. 4.2inch bore.
Any thoughts, not Gipsy or Cirrus

I have a JAP engine that powers the generator for starting the Spitfire, it stood for 25 years and went first pull awesome engines.

Cylinder ID
They are from a JAP J99, or if you are in the states an Aeronca E 113. Engine fitted to the Aeronca c3 /100, Dart Kitten etc. Praga also made a copy, so the origin of the bits you have bought should decide it. If uk, they will be JAP.
I can put you onto a home for them if you PM me.
What other treasure have you acquired ? Ben

Cylinder i/d
Should be identifiable by the unusual arrangement of the flange to attach the head.
Looks more like stationary engine or ground equipment genny sort of thing to me. A bit heavy looking for airborne use.
