reports that a Cypriot Mi-35E suffered a malfunction and made an emergency landing at Larnaca International Airport.
There are no reported casualties.
Twelve such aircraft arrived on the island in early 2001, and four options were taken up at that time.
Observation of the nation’s Air Forces has been very high since the disasterous Bell-206L helicopter accident earlier this year which killed much of the National Guard leadership.
The annual Cyprus-Greece Nikiforos 2003 war game is imminent, and military tensions in the region are expected to escalate accordingly.
