It will be 60 years on June 6th since the D Day landings. Are there any big commemorative airshows or the like planned, like what happened on the 50th Anniversary in 1994?
The highlight for me (as I was unable to see any of the airshows, not even here in NZ) was seeing a 60 Minutes special on Johnny Houlton who was the first Allied pilot to shoot down an enemy plane on D Day. He was reunited with his former 485 (NZ) Squadron Spitfire ML407 that he’d flown that day, and with Carolyn Grace, and alongside MK732 (another 485 (NZ) Sqn Spit that had flown beside him that very day in 1944) he was lown over the Normandy beaches again. A magical event. Sadly he is no longer with us.
Any chance of seeing ML407 and MK732 back together on June 6th, 2004? That’d be nice.

Are the German`s doing anything for D-Day?
I had heard that the French had invited them to their
D-Day beaches Rememberance ?!
I wonder if the Germans will try to keep the British and American
Delegates off the podium for as long as poss while the French just stand by, then try and take the glory once the Germans have legged it?!
hmmmm I wonder?
oops don`t mention the War!!
My Grandfather would be going potty!

At Old Warden, there is also a Military Pageant Air Display planned on june 6. Is this date a coincidence? So, maybe you can visit 2 events in 1 day.
In france at la ferté Alais there is a special display to remember the D-Day invasion.
See this french link (see:15H46-16H32 ):
