Having been to OW over 50 times i feel the best days are behind it. Take for example the old military pageants of the 90’s, numerous visitors, awesome displays.
Didn’t Shuttleworth build up huge debts in the 90’s though. At least now they’re in a better position financially.
I like to see the odd visiting warbird at OW ( can we have a mustang please) but I’m with MOTF, OW is the best venue in my opinion, along with Shorham which is another good show.
I am a fan of DX too, although not as much as I used to be, and thats where to go to see the powerful warbirds and OW for the Barnstorming style displays and for the gentler side of vintage aviation. The ballon bursting, limbo and flour bombing are all good fun and the crowd really enjoy it.
We are lucky to have these two venues and its good that each offers a different style.

At last possibly something worth seeing IF they come. I seem to remember last year a lot of stuff was booked ( F-3 / Tucano / Hawk.) but never turned up:mad: . lets hope they confirm.:)

That’s strange isn’t it? You’ld have thought they would be doing the Duxford D-Day show too….

They have balloon Bursting? Why wasn’t I informed of this? Duxford could learn a thing or two here.

Yes i do recognise the skill of the Shuttleworth pilots and engineers and the costs and effort involved in putting on a show, but for me it was the best place in the world to see powerful warbirds, jets etc being put through there paces and now seeing a Tiger Moth and Magister balloon bursting just doesn’t cut it anymore.

You are kidding surely, Old Warden is the finest airshow venue in the country. Good displays with a display line that lends itself to topside shots, a very friendlt atmosphere.
You wouldnt catch me any where else, especially now Duxford is ruined with the new display location.

MOTF
Shuttleworth has booked for D-Day show Piper Cub, Miles Messenger, ME108 and RAF Glider duo. Nothing worth getting exited about there then as usual. 🙂

Believe Carolyns booked there as well, er isnt this going to leave the other venues a bit short on Spits? I forsee frantic dashing about from venue to venue – hope the weathers ok!

Yep – i’d have preferred legends meself – but the fact that i’ve convinced the missus to go to ANY airshow at all – and the 6th was the one she WOULD do means i’m stuck on the 6th – the other 51 weekends this year will be booked for flower shows or knitting pageants or something so i’m grateful for what leeway i get!

At the moment I know that there will be 2 Mustangs and 2 Harvards, I will try to find out more tomorrow.

I too would be very interested to know what is flying at Sandown. I had originally planned to go to Duxford but this looks like it could be a better bet.
Obviously the BBMF are heavily involved and I’ve also noticed that MH434 is booked. What else is confirmed?
