D2D

Steve, Louise & the team, all the best for the Dawn to Dusk Challenge tomorrow (Thursday 29th June).

Do you know your route yet?

Flying Scholarships for the Disabled is a fantastic charity, so well done with raising the awareness of it.

Thanks Dan, that’s great.

Could I ask if anyone else sees any publicity from the flight could they post it on here or e-mail me at stephen.bridgewater@keypublishing.com ?

Louise and I did so many newspaper and radio interviews over the last few days that we lost track of where we were getting the publicity.

Thanks guys.

Neil – the guys and gals at BBMF (especially Al Pinner and Jeanette) were all a great help. Landing at Coningsby and taxiing in to see so many people waiting for us was one of the highlights of the trip. The air traffic team were also very helpful both inbound and outbound.

Trapper 69 and Mike – many thanks for your comments.

Mike, glad you like the mag – I note you’re based at EGTK… in that case you may have seen G-AYEE that we used for the flight? She’s covered in our sponsors logos and somebody in EGTK tower commented that it looked like she’d been caught up an ‘explosion at a sticker factory’!!

If you get chance to come across to Pilot Flight Training sometime do come and say hello to the D2D team – most of whom are based there.

Cheers

Blackpool-Coningsby
Coningsby-Wittering
Wittering-Duxford
Duxford-Cambridge
Cambridge-North Weald

The article will be in a future issue of TP – maybe the next one if I can find space.

Again, a big thank you to the airfields – many of whom waived landing fees, some of whom donated fuel and some of which opened late/early for us.

Bravo! That is pretty impressive. When is the report going to be published in the magazine?

I reckon I have the best view of London from where I work and we have had some fabulously clear days lately. Yesterday, was definitely well below par, so I think that was a pretty good achievement.

Can you list which airfields you got to?

Squirrel / Janie,

Thought you might be interested to hear how we got on?

Despite a two and three quarter hour delay due to fog at Oxford we finally got airborne at 07.15 to Coventry. We then spent a while on the ground at Coventry waiting for the haze to clear.

As the weather improved we vowed to complete as much of the flight as possible and – by just after 9pm last night we’d visited 14 airfields!

Total of 9.7hrs logged as far north as Blackpool and as far south as Goodwood.

It was an amazing day – one that Louise and I will remember forever.

Hopefully we also raised a lot of publicity for Flying Scholarships for the Disabled too.

Thank you to everyone who supported the flight – as well as everyone in our ops team and at the airfields who worked so hard yesterday to make sure it went as well as it did. You were all stars!

Cheers

Good luck Steve. Good luck to all your team too.

You’re a wise man to do it before the weekend. There’s a real scorcher forecast.
