Oh dear. 😮
I’ve been to Watford’s Vue cinema a few times. I wouldn’t have envied your job. I’ve had the worst viewing experiences of my life at Watford.
It got to a stage where I’d ask a member of staff for a weather forecast before going into the theatre, is it going to be raining popcorn, chewing gum or bendy straws today? 🙁
Watford’s a walk in the park compared to the central London sites I’ve been at since!! My rule of thumb is, “if the kids aren’t at school, don’t go!!!”;)
Tried to find out more about the screenings today. It’s seems its a BBC thing tied into a TV series or something. A good “making of” programme would be good. All the films will be shown digitally. Couldn’t find out anything about ticket prices or when they go on sale.

LOL. Thanks!! I used to manage Watford:D
The cinemas being used all have the facility to present it digitally.

Look at a male hen, the proper 4 letter word to describe said bird has been used to refer to something else which in society is deemed offensive
Makes me wonder what they use on all those chicken fancier forums instead…..
Mmmm – are chickens “historic aviation”? I’m not even sure they can fly…..

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but on Tuesday September 4, the Dambusters will be screened at selected cinemas across the country.
The Dambusters is one of seven films that will be shown as part of a ‘Summer of British films’ season.
As yet I can’t find a definitive list of cinemas taking part.

Yup, I quite agree with that sentiment, and I think that there will be more realistic aircrew contra temps in the new film, no doubt Mr Fry will revel in it.
Meanwhile Bex and myself will dissapear into the sunset with 2 goats and black dog we are’nt allowed to discuss, while sharing a fag.
Would those 2 goats be inflated?
So how do you “tie them off”?
(err….. hat, coat, gloves, door & taxi?)

Poor old Nigger.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to create a poll to measure the level of concern there is (or not) at Channel Four’s decision to delete all references to Guy Gibson’s Nigger. I would hate to see the producers of the forthcoming remake also delete or change the name.
Can someone create a poll on my behalf? We can’t change history nor should we censor our heritage / culture. I would be offended if anyone today would name their dog Nigger, but we must not allow petty PC to influence either Channel Four or the producers of the forthcoming remake.
A deeper concern is the possible highjacking of this issue by the far right (BNP). Truth be known, if C4 hadn’t deleted the dog’s name, there would be little protest compared to that generated by us highlighting this stupid censorship.

Thanks for the pic Dam buster.
I am glad it is still the same but now we should follow Moggys sentiment and forget the dog and talk about the film.

One question though, has the title on the dogs grave marker at Scampton been changed to something else more PC? as well or have the busybody patrol missed that one?
Not yet it hasn’t…(See Pic), however they have connected a small dynamo to Niggers’ (oops, forgot) remains so that the poor old lad can generate some green (ooops, sorry mentioned another colour there..might upset some Martian) electricity as he spins around and around at 600 RPM at the sight & sounds of some underworked overpaid muppet from the world of the Politically Correct getting in the high hover over his name. (N.B. NOT directed at anyone, or any thing, either animal, vegetable or mineral, in this world, or any other, or on or connected with, this forum).Words really do fail me.
I have always used his correct name in any talks & lecturettes that I give on Operation Chastise, and will continue to do so. I also fully cover the inaccuracies and myths from the film and some printed works.
However, I have now packed away my soapbox, and refuse to wave bye-bye to what remains of my hard won Freedom of Speech.
“******, this is ****** dangerous!”:D

Hmm yes good plan, except one minor detail, the 4yr old Fag Police in my house has demanded that I quit smoking so Im now down to my last, and unlike a last Rollo, Im afraid I can not share this last fag.
As for names / words, well its just like everything else really, seemingly harmless words get their uses changed in a seeming endless quest to find the most insulting use for it. Look at a male hen, the proper 4 letter word to describe said bird has been used to refer to something else which in society is deemed offensive (eg my cousin in the USA, her husband was banned from shortening his name at school incase of offence, Mr Richard Upright {u can guess}). Until war is abolished and we all live in harmony we’re stuffed on anything Historical being portrayed acurately, in some cases History maybe banned or rewritten so as not to cause offence.
I think Ive rambled on enough now, Bex.
(coat & last fag gone out the closed door) 😀

I agree totally with Moggy and only opened the thread to see if there was any news about the upcoming film.
Imho, the right-on brigade convieniently forget that if it weren’t for that generation and all their so called shortcomings, no-one would be discussing anything without the approval of government censors…..a-a-anyway……..
Can we move on now please………

I can’t speak for Steven Fry, or the new film’s director, but if I were either I’d neatly sidestep the issue by not mentioned either Gibby’s dog or the code word at all (or smoking, come to that).
I’m sure there are a lot more important facts. tales and tears to be shed in this story.
Steven will, no doubt, get a great deal of laughs by highlighting the somewhat public school style “debagging” imposed on other squadron’s aircrew by the “resting” 617 crews.
