Dakar rally starts 3rd January with a multitude of helicopters, spills and scenery. This always seems to produce a big yawn from the Forum. Why is this? Is it because there is only one UK participant? What has happened to the spirit of adventure and smell of a challenge? Always seems a mystery to me!

Maybe as unless there is a major incident, it gets virtually zero coverage on mainstream TV.
Rather like the Monte Carlo Rally. That used to be a major event, now it barely gets a mention.
