Can anyone enlighten me on the current whereabouts and condition of this well known Dakota?
The reason I ask is that someone I know has stated that he has ‘bought’ her and I was just being curious before I asked anymore questions.
Many thanks,
Martin

First flight I ever had with in a Dak from Baginton in G-AMRA. That day ‘SV was in for (I think) a C-check as the wings were off and the floors were up (late 1985). Sadly the Bristol Freighter was away that day though fellow classamates got a closer look two days later. Certainly caught my interest in flying…

Thanks gentlemen for your input. I’ll keep everyone up to date if anything else emerges from rumour control (South West) Branch!
Best wishes,
Martin
Useless fact – SV was the first Dakota I flew in 🙂

G-AMSV is now property of Coventry Airport after the previous owner went bust. It has been stored, wings off, in Hangar 1 at Coventry since. Last I heard there were two interested parties but I’m not aware it has been sold yet.

Hi Martin, I saw earlier ths year that ‘SV is in Hangar 2(number?) with wings off at Coventry. I think there was some deal done where ownership passed on for work undertaken on another Dak though I could be wrong. Ah I found the reply when I queried it earlier this year. This from Jon Corley, CP/MD of Classic Flight
The Dakota in question (G-AMSV) isn’t actually for the University as such. The instructor at the University (ex Atlantique engineer) will be the owner of the Dakota, and will be allowing the University to work on it for training purposes. The aircraft will be airworthy next year (hopefully) and will be used in the airshow circuit.
