Noted West bound on the A14 near Newmarket a couple of weeks ago was a Black and Gold Dakota. It was on 3 lorries, and appeared to be complete.
I assume that this was N4565L from Parham (as I was there at the weekend and it’s no longer there).
I seem to remember that this is a genuine DC3 rather than a C47.
Does anyone know where it’s gone?

I was in the lorry with the fuselage on the flatbed. She is a DC-3-201 which was built for Eastern Airlines in 1939 and then postwar ended up as an executive ship for the Ford Motor company in Argentina . After a spell of filmwork in Europe and a few displays she ended up at Ipswich.
Aces High did indeed buy her but contrary to most reports the main reason for this was to acquire a servicable wing from her to use on the Dakota which was damaged at Elstree when a Grumman AA-5 flew into it. The damaged wing then became part of the kit which ended up at Parham.

Very sad situation regarding that aircraft, it was used for filming, when filming was completed the film company left the DC3 at Ipswich airport where it then started to incur costs. By the time the owners had caught up with it the gales of 87 had attacked the aircraft causing substantial damage to the tail and one wing rendering it a long way from being airworthy. Glad to see it’s moved on now, lets hope it can be restored.

Hopefully a good crowd puller for Aeroventure.
As it’s a geniune DC3, it would be nice for it to be restored into it’s own original civilian markings.
Aeroventure are pretty good at that sort of thing, so there’s a fair chance.

ok here goes
The dc-3 has gone to aeroventure at doncaster ( it is a dc-3 and not a c-47). the aircraft is only missing a few item it has engines and there is some damage to one wing.

OK. Thanks.
Another thread that I must have missed. I really must get this Internet thingy at home so that I can look at it without having to turn it off whenever the boss wanders by.
Although thinking about it, the same may actually apply at home:D

This came up a couple of weeks ago and it seems that it’s gone up to Aeroventure at Doncaster.
I’d be interested to know how complete it is as I was under the impression that Aces High had it for a while and stripped it of it’s engines and a few other bits before it went to Parham.
