Hi again people been a long time since i have been about!
I have a question to ask,I am currently working at Whistable in Kent on the coast and as u look out to sea i can see the Isle of Sheppy and somedays i think maybe even Southend on Sea? An usually most mornings after about 1030ish on a clear day i can always see and hear the drone of a DC3 coming across from Southend way towards Whistable fairly high up on a occasion there has been what i think is maybe a DC4? Anybody have any clues where they come from who they belong too and where are they going just intrigued to know.
Just being nosey i guess!;)

Most of which are taken at the Dakota capital of the UK, Baginton.
Whilst the fleet was in decline there is a definite ‘Dakota Renaissance’ going on, long may it continue 😎

Daks
Was recently over in Long Beach California and I saw the Catalina Flying Boats DC 3’s at their operating base – no Airborne shots though – some of those on www.airliners.net – will have a look for em later
I was at a friends apartment at Long Beach (On the Roof ) and one of those DC3’s came over – it was a beautiful sight against the Clear Blue Californian Sky – it sounded pretty dammn good too

Brilliant photos everybody- I will dig a few more out when I get back to Coventry. One question about those seaplane Daks, are they true amphibians or is the retractable undercarriage just ‘beaching gear’ :confused:

Basler DC-3s
A couple of pictures showing the Basler “production line” at Oshkosh in 2003, note the fuelage extension that is associated with installing turboprop engines.

Cool! I had my first ever flight on ‘PY. This would have been late 85 or early 86 through a school trip when I was 10. Baginton’s changed a lot since then. We had our pciture in the local paper and I was quoted as wanting to fly “when I grow up”. This is true but missed out on the Fuglie scheme where I may have been able to fly a Dak for real!

(PS The Otis Spunkmeyer aircraft shown earlier is a C-41 – and the crew were very proud of that!)
