The website states opening times as 10.00am . Does anyone know if you can obtain entrance to Duxford to park earlier or is 10.00am when the gates open .
I have e-mailed the organizers twice with no reply as yet.

I saw that too: seems that a lot will be going on and I expect that a lot of warbirds will be doing random trips to the French coast in June.

It might wel be that the warbirds will leave the formation to go to either La Ferte or Oostwold airshows, both held during the weekend.

I know these things can change, but apparently the formation heading out to Normandy, have requested to fly overhead Southend Airport at 1,000ft.
On the 5th June about 14:29….. Duxford .> Colchester > Southend > Maidstone > Eastbourne.

Agreed – the L birds gathering sounds phenomenal and with free entry too. I’ll be going on the Saturday.

I read that the Daks are to be escorted across the cchannel by Spitfires and Mustangs – does anybody know which aircraft, if any have so far ‘signed up’ for escort duty?

I have tickets for Caen, and am in Normandy for the week 1-9 June.

I will be looking for other events in Normandy, and any news on the location where the parachutes will jump would be much appreciated

Thx in advance

hi,
same here nbaker, i’m leaning towards the Tuesday, as I’ve seen a time of 1600 for the wed. drop over Normandy, so they will have to t/o, form up if they are to go in formation, then fly on ,so departing Duxford 1300-1400? But on the Tuesday there’s a practice drop in the uk, so t/o for that could be early/mid afternoon…

regards,
jack…

I can only visit Duxford on one day and still can’t decide which day will be the best.

Hi all, I’m one of the jumpers for the event, the mass practice jump is taking place at Duxford and landing aircraft and jumpers back at Duxford.
there are no civvies jumping in France on the 6th due to security and various heads of states flying about it with be serving military only.
the chutes we use are steerable mainly MC-1 b-c and SF10 types.

Presumably that means the UK jump will be bigger to see as there will be a combination of civvies and military?

This site seems to be a good source for most/all on the French side, but not much for UK:

So do you have an idea which date and the time they will do the practice and how many aircraft will be involved?

Modern ’round’ chutes are steerable – just not as manouverable as square chutes šŸ™‚ I’ve jumped both. There is a pretty big DZ at Duxford – they’ll do wind drift checks and I’m sure it would be fine. After all the Falcons have dropped there for the past 40 years with no issues.

Surely its a bit ‘risky’ to land at Duxford with Round parachutes (i.e not steerable) with the M11 being so close? Although I wouldn’t be surprised if authorities thought that
