😡 Litle suprise the Dam busters memorial has been vandalised at Woodhall spa.
The obscene thing is, it is opposite a police station. Or rather, an unmanned shack which closes at 5.00.
What use is that?
When they start recruiting proper police and not these play time PCSOs who are frankly a total waste of time, maybe we will see results.
Anyone who knows the price of property in Woodhall knows these are no council estate yobbos that have done this.
The excuse is “we need all the police for Conningsby”. Absolutely pathetic.

Sadly its nothing new
In the early 90’s I worked for Leeds city councils Anti graffiti unit and we had a contract for the War Graves Commission to clean Memorials, Graves etc and the things we found written on some made me sick to the core. Harehills Cemetery which I admit is not in the nicest of areas contains the War Grave of a German from WW1 and we arrived one day to find it daubed in SS symbols not just vandalism but ignorance on a huge scale. My view is this it says on the side of most war Memorials LEST WE FORGET but sadly this is what is happening. The PC brigade re writing history means many of todays children have no idea of the sacrifices made in the last century. I worked as a CI at RAF Church Fenton with the Air Cadets teaching Aircraft Modeling and showed the cadets my Model of Gibson’s Beaufighter “who was he” said one cadet “the Leader of the Dambusters raid” said I. It turned out only 2 cadets had ever heard of it. If you get this from members of an organisation such as this what hope is there.

There are many factors in this. For example in Spilsby, the ATC allowed the hut to be sold off and the land along with the swimming pool next to it, for housing. Then they wonder why gangs of youths are hanging around doing nothing.
I am puzzled why the memorial was never built near Scampton. I guess 617 did a lot more ops from Woodhall, but I know very little about the “other” missions.
Besides I am sure that if Woodhall had a proper Police Force somebody in such a “community” could have raised the alarm. Went I went to the station in woodhall, I found it shut at 5.00 with an old dear cleaning the floor. What sort of use is that? “Come back in the morning”, reminds me of Monty Python.
The fact is our Police are out of touch and think that giving out leaflets about political correctness is the way forward. They are not in touch with youth at all. I had a long chat with an inteligent inspector in Hull who would love to interact with the young community. However everything he tried was quashed. A sgt at skegness admitted that getting blacks on their side was a no go, because most coppers DO detest them, regardless of whatever politically correct whitewash we are told.
They have no idea how to tackle rural crime. Most “old school” coppers live in the 1950s and most crims laugh at them.
What is difficult about highlighting trouble spots and keepin an eye on them on at the w/e?
BLAME THE POLICE AND TELL THEM THIS INCIDENT IS THEIR FAULT.
Never have I read such complete and utter drivel….get a life!

Unfortunatly Woodall Spa seems to be going through the same yob culture as a vast majority of British villages are expeariencing. I know Woodall very well having spent at least a week in the village for the last 14 years and I know that Woodall people are very proud of their assossiation with 617 Sqn and indeed the squadrons memorial. This act of vandalism needs nipping in the bud now and I hope that the community of Woodall Spa and Lincolnshire Constabulary act swiftly to stop this happening again.
Horrified and Disgusted Spadegrip. 🙁
Perhaps a couple of manned gun emplacements at either end of the memorial would be more effective and make it look more realistic.

Problem: Teenagers with plenty of time on their hands and little motivation.
Answer: Conscript them into the armed forces for at least two years. after that the Fire, Ambulance or Police or Prison service for a further two years.
Job done….or so I would like to think.
I am Ex Airforce & now an ambulanceman so Let me see!. Arsonists & joy-riders =fire brigade,Knife & gun weilding yobs & joy-riders =ambulance, bullies(& joy-riders)=police & asbo’s=prison officers-forgive my negativity on this one but I can’t see it working somehow:D .But the armed forces…..h’mmm bang on!train ’em up bring our decent lads back & pack ’em off to Afganistan & Iraq, they’ll soon discover what motivation means but please keep ’em away from scapyards & airfields in case they destroy a rare bird.:D

If were legally allowed I’d make ’em regret- regret they were born-(d’yer think the law would allow me to put them through the equivelent of 6 weeks Proper basic training so I could make them sweep a parade ground-with toothbrushes!!!!!!!!!:diablo: Its the very least those morons deserve. 😡

Anti idiot device.
I think I might have found the perfect thanks we can give the cnuts who thought this was the best way to while away the time…
Hi there,
Just to say I like the look of the Green machine, but have you heard that
if the Police have a flat tyre on their Panda-Car, they arenot allowed to change it, they have to send for tyre re-pair man. What chance have they
got if the device has a flat battery. On the tyre thing, are we not required on
our test to show we can do a tyre replacement in a emerg ? Anyway lets hope that after your shown device we get RoboCop, how does it go, Ten Seconds to comply.

Absolutely diabolical!
I suppose we can be thankful that the damage wasn’t a lot worse…
These mindless yobs need educating (the hard way if necessary) about WW2 and what it stood for, and above all, RESPECT.
It is about time we got rid of this stupid, P.C., soft, mollycoddling state, which, even to any half-blind fool with a rubber sack over his head, is obviously largely responsible for the appalling state of what was once a great country.
I could rant on for hours about this, but for now, I’ll shut up and get down off my soapbox..

We drove past it on Saturday and I was happy to see it all nice and clean.
That does seem to be the area where the local youths hang around, especially at night, most don’t have any respect for things like that, it’s why I was never interested in hanging around with people my own age, they don’t want to hear about the history, they just like the trouble making.
I didn’t think the police hut was opposite;) 😀 , I thought that was an estate agents 😉 lol:D
As a side note, 617 were formed at scampton but were only there for 6 month I believe before spending 3 month at coningsby, then swaping with 619(???) squadron and staying at Woodhall for the rest of the war. As far as I know thats all correct but I’m sure someone will correct me and point and laugh 😀 😀

I worked (in very close)co-operation with the Police for Twenty Five years and from what I saw the “NEWISH” policeman or woman couldn’t hold a candle compared to the time served coppers , the inpression I used to get was that all the newish police cared about is money and couldn’t or wern’t capable of doing the job as it should be done ??? 😮 😮

I have lived here all my 54 years, but this doesn’t seem like my Country anymore; I don’t feel like I belong here. Is this something we all feel as we get older? Did our parents feel the same way, or is it something that is unique to our generation? My Father hated ‘Teddy Boys’ and then Hippies were the final straw, but I don’t think he felt so disposessed as I do now.
Sorry, but I am selling up as soon as I can afford to, and going abroad. I am afraid to live here, and besides I can’t afford the Council Tax.
Would the last one to leave please put out the lights?
