Just wondering if any of you have seen The Dam Busters on Blue-Ray and could comment on the quality of the film …compared with the current dvd print out now. I see where many older war films are making the transfer from standard dvd to Blue-Ray. I have here two war films Battle Of Britain & Bridge To Far…both look great in Blue Ray. I see The Longest Day is out on Blue Ray as well but as of yet have not seen what a B&W older WW II film looks like. Wondering how those Merlins sound on The Dam Busters?
Thanks

I have not seen it yet, but the anniversary DVD never appeared a couple of years back even though richard Todd did a commentary for it apparently.
This thing is just like DVD they are not doing many of the old films with any special features with the exception of BofB and Bridge too far none have anything which seems a waste of space and money.
But with a lot of old films being re-released in 3D in the next couple of years (Star Wars, jaws etc) they might get that as well.
I would have said if you have it on DVD leave it at that as i cannot see a studio spending any money making a proper transfer.
I did have a quick google for the title and the reviews say it is the same print from the DVD and the quality is not that good plus it is only about a tenner so is aimed at the i dont have it on DVD market.

A fairly comprehensive review can be found here:

Scroll down for some DVD/BluRay side-by-side examples.
Seems like a goodun.

Why not? Film is far higher resolution than DVD and Bluay can take advantage of that.
