Hello,
Peter Jackson reported as saying:
“The exact locations were still being finalised, but he confirmed the Lincolnshire town of Scampton, where the Dambusters were based, would be used for filming. “
I wonder if some or if not all of the full size replicas will be brought over to the U.K. ?

Like they invented the cruise missile?
Who on this forum (or anyone else who knows aviation history …which appearently excludes many on this forum…:diablo: ) said the Americans invented the cruise missile?
Some spotty English school boy I suppose…I hope his mates at public school sort him out proper!😀
Since you don’t seem to know know about US ALCMs, allow me to fill you in…
-The AGM-86 and Tomahawk have 1500 and 1350 mile ranges, a 500+ mph speed,…and terrain following radar…
-The long obsolete and withdrawn Hound Dog had a top speed of 1,200 mph.
I don’t think the V-1 had these attributes. They were slow enough to be brought down by Spitfires…
Plus they have one huge advantage over the Nazi weapon…they’re not pointed at the U.K.😀

If you find out let us know:D 😀 😀
I agree, especially if it’s extras at Scampton, only two minutes up the road for me 😉 😀 lol

Lets hope they don’t have a cast full of Americans eh?, or the majority of the thick and stupid youth of today will think the yanks breached the dams and invented the ‘bouncing bomb’, like the other movie that told the world how they captured the ‘Enigma’ and helped us British out because we couldn’t do anything right!
Oh yeah after all the Americans did invent the flying didn’t they?, no wonder they don’t want display the aircraft below:D
sorry all got carried away!!
Like they invented the cruise missile? except that the Germans did it in WWII and called it the V1. As far as I can see the Americans made 3 improvements over the V1 to produce the Tomahawk. More advanced guidance system(which is still not very reliable apparently-probably Microsoft software) an engine that doesn’t need to be doing 200 mph to get it started and the folding flying surfaces to save space.:D

I’ll admit it was in jest:D ,however the dig was at Americans:D 😀 & not the Wright Bros(I never mentioned their name until now)
Why take a dig at the Americans?
Why not the Germans, a country that bombed you twice, instead of the country that saved you twice?:D

What I want to know is. Where do we apply to be extras ? See the `Memphis belle filming` thread. Looks like a lot of fun.:)

Yes, Lancasters have a great deal in common with hot air balloons made of paper and powered by burning straw…
Yes, I know your comment was probably intended in jest…but to prevent any of the “…thick and stupid youth…” from getting the wrong idea. ..
The Wrights always gave credit to Lillenthal. But recall they they did expand on his unpowered weight-shifting hang glider. Not to mention reworking his lift tables and designing the first aerial prop (which entailed a lot more than changing boat designs). If you ever read one of their biographies (for a particularly technical one written by a pilot, read Combs’ Kill Devil Hill) you’ll see they did a lot more than hang an engine on a glider.Every time someone gets mad at America, they attack (or at least insult) the Wrights…Please keep in mind it was your own Science Museum that gave them credit for the world first manned , powered, controlled flight by an aeroplane.:D

Sounds like a huge model – do tell more!
Huge? You could say that

They also do a Mossie and a Frightening in that scale 😮
It’ll be impressive when it’s finished. Well, should be, if I ever get round to it. The bag of resin bits weighs a ton, and as for all the white metal…
Ooops, pb beat me to it

I would imagiane the production team will have scoured Europe for any useful items such as the traveling cockpit that attends airshows and the fuselage section (Aeroventure?) that was used in the same drama as Just Jane?
I hope they do/have approached Aeroventure, It would be nice to contribute so long as they don’t ruin the story

I’m still trying to explain the 1/24 Heritage Aviation Lanc that I just had to have when it was released…
You could always start with a large bunch of flowers……….then say “it was like this dear, I was just passing a shop and”………..:D 😀 😀
Or you could put it in the loft for a few months & tell her it was one you bought before you were married.:D

Sir George Cayley I suspect.
AHH George Cayley built gliders, whilst Mr Stringfellow (Sheffield born)built one powered by a small steam engine which actually flew-albeit across the top floor of a textile mill he owned-some time in the 1870’s:cool:

re
Totally agree about revolting love stories.
Totally correct about the distribution, also the budget for advertising is usually non existant.
By: XN923 - 13th October 2007 at 14:49
I don’t mind particularly who makes it. After all the original crew for the raid was multi national.
What I don’t want to see in the film is the usual ‘love story’ running side by side with the main one to appeal to another audience. Drives me nuts.
Also, how much will they want for the plastic models when they’ve done I wonder? Won’t mention that to the wife just yet!:)
