Yes, we lost something when they banned drink and cigar ads…..
Remember Panama cigars and such things as Carlos Fandango wheels, or stick on chest wigs ?

Never seen it before lads so thanks for the info. I had no idea it was 20 years old. No disrespect to the veterans of 617 or Bomber command in my posting the video link.

Yes, it’s classic and I’m sure it was posted on a thread in GD about peoples’ favourite TV ads.

That has to be getting on for nearly 20 years old now!
Also wasnt there another Carling advert with a Dambusters theme to it? Skipping a rolled up beach towel across a pool seems to ring a bell….

I remember that one! Strange how a German friend didn’t see the funny side…

No disrespect intended towards those who served to protect our freedom, and for far too many of them, paid the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.

Truth be known that George Lucas did actually use footage from the Dam Busters film to filled in gaps during the editing of Star Wars, while the actual F/X footage of the Death Star being attacked was being filmed, so that the director could marry up live action footage.

That first one is almost 20 years old.
It was released not that long after England lost to Germany on penalties in the semi-final of the 1990 World Cup – hence the German ‘goalkeeper’s’ exploits…

A group of friends were visiting Duxford a few years back – and the ad was playing in a theatre/auditorium(???).
At first they thought it was a real documentary…….. :diablo:
IIRC, the Carling ad was withdrawn after complaints from RAF veterans associations.
